Earth paper

In recent years the consequence of global warming has manifested itself in increasing cases of devastating hurricanes, earthquakes, droughts, and floods. I hope that, at this point, no educated person is still arguing against the reality of global warming and its detrimental effect on planetary life when it is clearly seen around us. But recognizing the problem is far from coming to a consensus about its solutions. I am not sure what the delay is at the top but the environment is not deteriorating any slower. Is there so much politics that we cannot even unite to save our home?

Sometimes I think environmental restoration might be a near-impossible task. The problem is not so much whether we can do it or not, but whether we would be willing to try. Every country has its own interest, and leaders are unlikely to compromise their resources and economy for the good of the global community. It is like a bad roommate scenario: no one is willing to clean up someone else’s mess because there is no guarantee others will do the same. So even if one person is willing, he will have to wait for the others to commit before any work is done. To effectively restore the earth, everyone (or at least a good majority in each country) must be willing to make some sacrifices in time and money. If people can truly put aside their greed and pride for a moment and unite for this purpose, then the earth will have a chance to be clean again.
