Protect Environment

City Montessori School / Priyanshu Chatterjee.

The term environment means the surroundings of an organism. It includes both living and non-living components. Man and other living organisms are surrounded by non-living components such as land, water, air, atmosphere and by living components like plants and animals. Further, the environment includes the pollutants, and other factors that adversely affect our life. Environment, therefore, refers to the sum total of all the forces, materials and influences around us at a given point of time and place.

Ecosystems, these are known as the fundamental building blocks of the environment. If we cause pollution or harm these in any way, we are automatically harming our surroundings, that is, the environment. It also incurs some problems that we do not think of facing in our present scenario, but we can face them in our near future. This shows the carelessness of the human beings that gives the root to all major sins of our life. Resources become succumb to all the uses, trio of plants, trees and forests, fall under the crumple of extensive heat and U.V. radiations of the sun which gets increased due to the depletion of the valuable ozone layer which controls the temperature of the earth. The known global warming goes on increasing to such level, enough to swallow over our coastal cities and the whole of subcontinents and small islands.

Ecosystems can be small or large and are placed in nature side by side. There is an exchange of materials and energy within the ecosystem as well as between adjoining ecosystems. Ecosystems have been transformed in response to land-use changes. The land on which we live is the vital component for our existence. It provides us with food, raw materials as well as space for housing and recreation. Land cover changes occur as a result of natural resources such as wind and water erosion, changes in drainage, floods and droughts, failure of rains and due to man-induced changes. Large tracts of land have been cleared for agriculture, forestry, fuel-wood and industrial growth. Construction of dams, diversion of rivers, and the development of extensive irrigation systems cause damage to natural ecosystems. Human activities often lead to significant changes in marine ecosystems as well.

For our welfare, it is necessary to stop these immediately and much faster the approaches from the countries all over the world. The political instructors of various regions, must think deeply about. The famous saying of the great philosopher, Victor Hugo, said “It’s the time for an idea.” An idea can change the whole present scenario and give the next generation a better chance of survival. As per, the million ideas come from the minds of great men, the world is thought to be safe on its moving track. But the all time hasn’t come for our comatose. Men think of billions of desires, and to fulfill his desires, he can cross every limit of the great mount of God. But, he has to remember that desires are the great causes to the sorrows. And sorrows can only be killed if we kill our desires. To  encounter with the present environmental problems, we have been making quite settings for our future in the recent years. We have been making efforts like solar energy, biomass, wood-gas(inclumatadol). The individuals can also put their efforts than the industries and politics. Many eco-friendly efforts that are by doing the following studies can develop the sense of serving the environment. Things like freezers and air-conditioners are making use of gases like CFC and HCFC which are depleting the ozone layer which protects us from harmful U.V. rays of the sun which causes skin diseases like skin cancer. The exhausts from which cause acid rain and damage soil fertility and corrodes marbles and buildings like Taj Mahal. The discharge from industries is thrown into water bodies without any treatment which pollutes water in our locality. The individuals can practice several avoids for it. They are according to one’s own economy and miscellaneous works of life. They are:-

1.The local industries around public vents should treat their waste before disposing in the water bodies to avoid water pollution. Nearby water treatment plants should be set up.

2.We should avoid chemical detergents with caustic soda. Instead use vinegar that is non-harmful to nature, for utensils.

These two equipments can be used by an individual level, can do more effective work than thousands of industries can not do at once.

Here comes the end of my topic, and for the conclusion, I would like to add, that collective measures must be taken to avoid the tottering of us and our environment in the coming future. May the people after hearing the conditions have panicked, but rather than panicking and being on a safer side, be responsible, not only to our country but to the whole world. Always use the three R’s, recycle-reuse-reconstruct. Thus we must remember the idea of becoming eco-friendly.
