The only big problem is would you rather take an advice from a popular person that you know personally or from a celebrity? What the popular ones say or do matters a lot. For example, Hitler could get so many people to do such a horrible thing. The easiest way that global warming could be solved is by changing the popular and influential ones into positive influentials, this would definitely save the environment more efficiently. After all, everyone will have to be part of it to help.
