The rate of marriage in Taiwan becomes lower and lower. According to the Ministry of the Interior, 145,000 couples were married in 1998, a sharp decline from the 168.000 couples married in 1997. Because of the decrease of the marriage rate, the wedding industry similarly is descending as well in 2000s. On the contrary, while the rate of marriage goes down, the divorce rate certainly is gradually increasing. For this reason, nowadays, there are many children who are born into single parent families that cause a variety of social problems, such as the lack of education, tuition, occupation and other factors. It is so significant for us to acknowledge that drawbacks tend to bring the bad impression in current society. Therefore, we wonder why people are attempt to divorce after being married and what the concept of marriage they get married for. In my opinion, I strongly believe the marriage should be built on the way a man and a woman must trust each other. Below arc the concepts of marriage I collect from five people, Amy. Jay, Yang, Ken, an American friend, and myself.

Amy, my classmate in the TESOL program, considered that marriage should consist of two people, one man and one woman. However, she emphasized that she has no inclination to the view of discrimination toward homosexuals willing to get married. Instead, she mentioned she feels weird and uncomfortable while encountering two men or two women kissing or cuddling with each other. In addition, she pointed out most people, viewing the marriage of homosexuals as disrupting social climate, are hardly accepting the marriage of homosexuals. For instance, One of Amy’s friends Jason, who is gay, has been discriminated against and isolated by his relatives and colleagues after getting marriage. He seems like a strange person to their co-workers and kinsfolk unwilling to and reluctant to get along with him. Hence, Amy believed a man and a woman are appropriately composed for a better marriage.

An American friend, Ken, disagreed with the marriage involving only a man and a woman; in other words, one man can get married to another man and so can the women if only they make a lifetime commitment to each other. He pointed out that his friend, Denny, has been married to the man for 15 years. The life they have spent still reveals pleasure, satisfactory, and lovely though they can’t adopt the babies. Moreover, the homosexual parties are said to the best spheres where they can take advantage of their time to relish their tile and make lots of friends. Despite the fact that having no baby for homosexuals seems to be a problem of their marriages, discrimination and isolation to their friendships is thought to be anything but annoyance or disruption in their lives.

According to my friend Jay, he believed a man and a woman should never get married just for the pregnancy issue. The marriage should be embraced in a way people get married because of the baby. However, Jay emphasized he absolutely disagree with the issue of abortion where a woman tends to terminate a pregnancy as a result of being unwilling to get married. Abortion inappropriately serves as a good reason for women to abandon their marriages. However, most of traditional parents in Taiwan force their children to be married when a woman is pregnancy whether they are adults or teenagers. Taking his uncle for example, he was forced to get married at the age of 18 since his wife had a baby during the time when they weren’t truly familiar with each other for one year. Finally, he divorced and broke up with his wife because of the problem of discrepancy of the personality. Jay; therefore, entirely disposes that he eventually should get married on account of a baby.

My friend Yang stated that please don’t get married ifs man and a woman can not afford the family’s as well as baby’s expenditure. He proposed most of people breaking a marriage are inclined due to lack of income leading to conflict the beliefs of their love. Money is not perfect but is useful some time. For example, the poor have no extra expenditure to pay their children’s tuitions of schools while for the rich it is opposite. For this reason, these children from poor families couldn’t be fully educated in school to acquire a variety of knowledge and develop their sociable ability.

From my point of view, the concept of marriage should be built on the way a man and a woman must trust and be faithful to each other. Longtime marriage without divorce should be established in the condition couples must rely on each other whereas short-time marriage is opposite It is assumption that distrust produces suspicion leading to negative effect on marriage, such as divorce as well as separation. Nevertheless, with the credence to couples, marriages are attempt to be longer and more stable. For example, unlike my friend Mary who always doubted her husband having extramarital relations so that her manage became shorter and divorced at the end, another friend Tracy has never suspect her husband who is inclined to betray her. Her marriage lasts longer and longer without doubt. Therefore, faithfulness acts as the positive belief among every couple having been married or going to get married. Certainly, the belief of trust is said to be the pivotal factor to the center of marriage.

From five opinions above, I cam analyze that the concepts of marriage reflect multiple points of view. Compared with Amy and Jay’s viewpoints. Amy proposes the same genders are inappropriate to get married while Jay supposed an opposite opinion that both men and both women are acceptable to get married. Furthermore, although both of them reflect different concepts of marriage about gender issues, they are consistently and aggressively debated in the modem society. In addition, Ken opposes having a baby before getting married whereas Yang focuses on the finances whether a couple could earn enough income to afford their families. Indeed, we cat analyze both opinions from both ken and Yang more deeply that most cases of divorce are attributed to lack of finances for a family to feed their babies. The income in family should balance the normal expenditure or extra expenditure charged to raising the babies. Without ample income, a family encounters the shortage of expenditure that commonly causes a quarrel between a wife and a husband. Not only this argument leads to the conclusion of divorce, but it is also said to be the bad model for the children in a family. For this reason, it is better to have a baby when the income is sufficient to afford the whole expenditure in a family. Under no circumstance should a man never marry a woman having a baby without adequate income.

In conclusion, although more and more people are depressed about marriage according to the higher divorce rate, there are still many people who express the positive impressions toward marriage toward different opinions above. I deeply assert that the marriage might not be a miracle mirage if couples would Inst each other before they tie the knot. Moreover, I also consider that couples are supposed to manage their family expenditure lest they are going to argue over the problem of lack of money that is destructive to then life-long partnerships. For this reason, the problem of divorce would no longer an annoyance when people tend to get married.
