When we unconsciously waste varied energy, the climate is changing gradually. If we still do nothing, the situation in the movie 2012 is not an imagination at all. It is high time that we protected our earth and everyone has his own responsibility. When it comes to the changing the environment, it cannot but speak of global warming. In this information era, almost all the people know that the main reason causing the increasing of the whole world’s temperature is the emission of carbon dioxide. Although we know this fact, our life style seems to make little change; some people still waste water and electricity. In spite of the fact that eating vegetables instead of meat can decrease massive discharge of CO2, how many people are ready to participate in one of the vegetarians? Thus, many slogans about protecting Earth are just oral advice in the long run. It is a pity that we only know the methods but lack practical activities. In my opinion, these circumstances are attributed to not only lazy character but also one’s attitude. I think most of the students, including me, reckon that global disasters are far from us. On the other hand, we are not aware that how important the duty we have. However, the importance of protecting environment can not be overemphasized. I think we can follow several steps to attain the goal of rescuing Earth’s fortune. First, we need to learn more knowledge about environmental protection and cultivate the “love” to our mother Earth. Because of the former, we are able to judge which thing is eco-friendly by ourselves instead of following others’ motion; because of the latter, we can do these things with a sincere heart; otherwise, we may easily give up or complain about many troublesome things; because of the both, we can devote ourselves to the action of rescuing the Earth. Second, we should start the motion from trivial things because that is much easier to practice in our daily living. For example, turning off the light when you do not need it, or pulling out the plugs of some appliances which are seldom used. Furthermore, we may make it a rule to be thrifty, as the proverb goes, “Habit is second nature.” From then on, we can save the energy all the time. And then, we can do something in more efficient ways. For instance, riding bicycles or taking public transportation in place of driving and riding a scooter. That way not only reduces the emission of the CO2 but also enables us to take more exercise. In addition, compared with vegetable and fruit, the production of meat costs much more energy. We must eat less meat so as to reduce the consumption of energy. To sum up, “all roads lead to Rome.” Last, everyone has his own ability to rescue Earth, but most of them are not aware of it, so the pioneer such as us should spread the information of nowadays situation. A big event for environmental protection is what we should do together. In the past, it is nature that gave us countless natural resources. Now, it is time that we repaid our surroundings.
