2010 World Summit on Human Rights for World Citizens (1)

As mankind enters the beginning of 2010, the earth has been stricken by countless disasters and man-made calamities. It is high time to safeguard the earth. In witness of the urgent need of protecting our living environment, Dr. Hong, Tao-Tze, Honorary Vice-President of the UN/NGO Association of World Citizens (AWC) and President of AWC Taiwan, calls on heads of states and world leaders to take actions to safeguard the earth and protect human rights. The collective efforts culminate in the “2010 World Summit on Human Rights for World Citizens” held in Taipei with more than 700 domestic and international human rights activists attending. The key theme topics of the summit are “Respect,” “Law,” “Taxation,” and “Environment.” Tai Ji Men teenagers performed a play of “The Tiger's Wish” to inspire people taking actions to make peace prevail. The summit, filled with love and hope, has consolidated energies from all corners and sent out messages to world citizens to take good care of the earth and love it tenderly. Yes, I do.

April 1st 2010 was the 9th anniversary of World Citizens' Day in Taiwan. In view of the increasing frequency of natural disasters and man-made calamities, the UN/NGO Association of World Citizens (AWC) and AWC in Taiwan held “2010 World Summit on Human Rights for World Citizens” on the same day. Within a month, the summit was well-prepared and invited articles from every field. Four main topics: Respect, Law, Taxation, and Environment were enthusiastically discussed at the summit to advocate the human rights development of world citizens. This event has inspired tremendous responses from global heads of state, leaders and experts from all fields. The summit was full of many reflections from mankind. After many honorable guests delivered their speeches, the human rights globe, symbolizing our earth, was activated to give forth powerful messages for human rights protection. After declaring “Yes, I do.” The first penal discussion focused on respect began.

On April 1st, 2010, the UN/NGO Association of World Citizens (AWC) and AWC in Taiwan held “2010 World Summit on Human Rights for World Citizens” Gathering the power of UN/NGO, people from more than 70 countries spoke for protecting of human rights for Taiwan and the world across borders and different standpoints. Considering people as the foundation, the law as the gauge, the society uses laws to regulate people’s behaviors was originally to protect human rights. And the laws derived from “people as the foundation” was to benefit people. Law was particularly included as one of the four topics in the summit. You can hear profound analysis and different aspects from experts of various fields, to better understand human rights within the law which is closely linked to you and me.

Paying taxes is what every citizen should do; however, along with human rights being common ground, the taxation has recently become a topic that people concern about. In the 2010 World Summit on Human Rights for World Citizens, a panel discussion on taxation was also included. In the summit, many lawyers, accountants, and professors provided suggestions for protecting human rights on taxation. They appealed that the government should face up to human rights on taxation, listen attentively to people's voice, make rules based on people's need, and revise long-lasting bad laws into good ones. Therefore, people can really live safe and work happily, and our nation can be prosperous and peaceful. Now, let's pay attention to the issues of taxation, which are closely related to you and me.

In 2010, huge earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and turbulent world happen on the crisis-ridden Earth continuously. These natural and man-made calamities force human beings to face the new ordeal of subsistence. At this moment, the UN/NGO Association of World Citizens and AWC Taiwan co-hosted the 2010 World Summit on Human Rights for World Citizens and invited all global elites to aggregate the knowledge and wisdom from various domains that aimed for the topic of environment and wished to help people escaping from the difficulties. In this episode, let's start from the inspection of our environment from which to seek for an essential solution – the awakening of human's good conscious and sense.
