 Environmental protection is a practice of protecting the environment, on individual, organizational or governmental level, for the benefit of the natural environment and humans due to the pressures of population and our technology the biophysical environment is being degraded, sometimes permanently. This has been recognized and governments began placing restraints on activities that caused environmental degradation. Since 1960’s activism by the environmental movement has created awareness of the various environmental issues. There is not a full agreement on the text of the environmental impact of human activity and protection measures are occasionally criticize.

 Academic institution now offer course such as environmental management and environmental engineering that study the history and methods of environmental protection. Protection of the environment is needed from various human is needed from various human activists. Waste, pollution of biodiversity, introduction of invasive species, release of genetically modified organisms and toxics are some the issues relating to environmental protection.

 Many constitutions acknowledge the fundamental right to environmental protection and many international treaties acknowledge the right to live in a healthy environment. M any countries have organizations and agencies devoted to environmental protection. There is international environmental protection organizations, as the United Nations Environment program.

 The environmental protection agency has drafted “Seven priorities for EPA’s future which are-

  1. “Taking action on climatic changes”.
  2. “Improving air quality”.
  3. “Assuring the Safety of Chemicals”.
  4. “Cleaning up our Communities”.
  5. “Protecting America’s Waters”.
  6. “Expanding the conservation on environmentalism and working for environmental Justice”.
  7. “Building strong State and tribal partnerships”.

 At a national level the Ministry for the Environment is responsible for environmental policy and the department of Conservation addresses conservation issues. At a regional level the regional councils administer the legislation and addresses regional environmental issues.

 Environmental protection has become a theme in function as well as non functional literature. Books such as “Antarctica and Blockade” have environmental protection as a theme where as the Lorax has become a popular metaphor foe the environmental protection.

 So, in last we can make a promise to ourselves that on every 5th June, which we celebrate as Environment Day. We should try our best to make our environment good and healthy.

 According to the words of John Milton-“The mind is its own place, and in its can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven”.

 The above lines clearly explain us that it is up to us that how we make the structure of our environment a heaven or hell.
