At present, we are moving through the era of arms race. Arms race refers to the situation in which countries or colonies of different countries compete with each other for the weapons and ammunitions. These countries not only make weapons but also transport their weapons to other countries. This adds fuel to the fire and shows miserable results. This race among various nations of the world is gaining simultaneous momentum with the world itself.

　Through the Arms Race, different nations are willing to be the superior power in the world. It has already been reported in the past that in the beginning years of the twentieth century, Germany also resolved to become the superior authority in the world. Its leaders like the king ‘Kaiser William-2’made a declaration to the world that either the Germans would become the supreme in the world or they would decline gradually. Thus, the Germans at that time became a part of the member nations of the arms race. It developed the latest war weapons and techniques. This participation of Germany in the Arms Race became one of the highlighted causes of the occurrence of the First World War.

　As we all know, that the First World War destroyed and spread crisis in every part of the world. The most significant result of this war was over Germany since it was compelled to sign the Humiliating Treaty of Versailles. After signing this treaty, a huge crisis spread in Germany and was at the tip of its decline. But, Germany was saved from its decline due to its powerful leader Adolf Hitler who wanted to bring back the glory of Germany. Adolf Hitler gave rise to Nazism or autocracy or dictatorship in Germany. This principle of Nazism gave rise to yet another World War in 1939.

　This War was much-more disastrous than the First one since several changes took place at the world level. The world was divided into two blocs, namely, USA bloc and USSR bloc. After the Second World War, the necessity of a World Organization was properly understood and thus, ‘United Nations Organization’ came into existence which proved so effective that since its formation till now, no Third World War has taken place.

　The lines in the previously mentioned paragraphs are only some examples or rather evidences to prove that ‘The Arms Race’ could be disastrous to any extent. We, the people can take initiatives to prevent this arms race like:

• Spreading Mass Awareness Programmes in different nations.
• Showing Examples between people how disastrous Arms Race can be.
• Making the Governments of the World aware about the situations.
• City Montessori Inter College, Lucknow, India also aims at spreading peace and preventing the Arms Race from gaining more momentum.

　By taking or adopting the above measures I am sure that there will be no occurrence of yet another devastating World War.
