Education for lack funding

I am a student at California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA) who is determined to earn a college degree. Times are hard all across the country, but that does not mean that education should lack funding.

Tuition is going up and classes are cut short. College students are always told that they are the future of the country, yet the country is not putting much effort into pushing their students to their potentials. With the budget cuts, students are unable to receive the same education given ten years ago. With the government funding their "projects," students are clearly not their priority. It is sad to know that those who depend on us to run the country in the future, do not give us their attention. Why should students have to fight with the government for the education they deserve?

At CSULA, tuition increased approximately $200 this year and furlough day was also placed. Why should we pay more for less? Most people will say that this just does not add up, and they are right. Why should I pay more for lesser classes and lesser hours? When will I be able to take that history class I need for my general education requirements? If I pay for the class, should I not be able to take the class? I am certain there students will agree with my statement and will argue that the education system can be better.

Many students have come together and rally against the budget cuts. I find that the only way to receive the education we all seek is to form larger groups and show the government that students matter. Let's all stand together and express our determination.
