2010 WSHR Unites Action for Peace

Representative of Japan House Taro Kimura talks about the protection of the continuation of earth life from history

2010 is the 60th anniversary of the Korean War. Since the outbreak of the “ROKS Cheonan Sinking” in March, strained relations between North and South Korea once again fall into tightness. Although the President of South Korea Lee Myung-bak spoke out in the war memorial, and required North Korea to stop unnecessary armed provocation and express the hope that “70 million people in North and South Korea are able to live happily together, and finish the tragedies of war”. The North Korea still releases the determination of continuing its "willing to fight to death", and fills the Asia-Pacific region with a thick gunpowder. Tension on the Korean peninsula has also affected other countries in military action or attitude. It is reported that the East China Sea Fleet of Chinese Navy has organized a naval and air force exercise with actual-troops and live-ammunitions in a sea area of the East China Sea a few days ago; besides, the biennial Rim of the Pacific Exercise (RIMPAC) launched on July 4 can be described as the largest maritime exercise‎ in the history, 14 countries in total and more than 20,000 military personnel was put into action.

In the human history, the war has always been the key to the fate of the world. According to statistics, the Korean War caused the expense of 180,000 people in the neighboring China . World War I killed more than 1,500 million people around the battlefield, and injured about 2,000 million people. At that time, two-thirds of the world population (about 15 million people) was involved in the war. World War II killed more than 2,700 million soldiers and 5,500 civilians; four-fifths of the world population (nearly 20 million people) was affected by war. To eliminate wars, President Obama reached a breakthrough agreement of nuclear disarmament with Russia in March this year, and decreased the number of nuclear weapons of each to about 1,500 pieces. Later in April, he met the leaders of 47 countries at the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington .

President of Federation of World Peace and Love (FOWPAL), Dr. Hong Tao-tze was invited to the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg in South Africa . During the summit, FOWPAL held several World Summits of Love and Peace, in which Dr. Hong published the “The World After 2002--The Sustainable Development of Love and Peace” essay and pointed out--peace brings bliss, happiness and prosperity; wars bring only misfortune, pain, poverty or even destruction. Dr. Hong said that only with love and peace can human beings achieve the sustainable development of the world. This important conception is the spiritual guide of the world in the future after 2002. Now, more and more leaders and elite make an effort together to build a lovely and peaceful world. After the G8 and G20 summit ended this June, the leaders, in addition to seeking the solution of reviving the economy, made the call of peace to solve the problems and situations between South and North Korea , Israel and Palestine , the timetable of withdrawal from Afghanistan and Iran 's nuclear weapons.

Since the humanity has come to the key point of survival, resident of FOWPAL, also as honorary vice-president of the UN/NGO Association of World Citizens and Zhang-men-ren of Tai Ji Men, Dr. Hong initiated the “2010 World Summit on Human Rights for World Citizens” on April 1 this year, and appealed to the awake of world citizens to use love, peace, respect and the practice of human rights to resolve the various situations of arms in the world. How to survive in this world community? Only from truly understanding the meaning of respect from race to race, society to society and nation to nation can human beings find the true way to rescue themselves.

We have had 196 countries from around the world to respond enthusiastically to the “2010 World Summit on Human Rights for World Citizens”. Heads of state from around the world, government officials, community leaders, scholars and experts in various fields have brought up essays with views and examples from countries and various fields for the four themes of the summit--development of human rights of world citizens, environment protection and the safeguard of the earth. It is an important database and a great contribution to gathering huge strength from the world together. Heads of state and community leaders, especially President of the Republic of Korea , former and current President of Republic of South Africa, Governor-General of Australia, President of the Commonwealth of Dominica , Intern Secretary-General of Amnesty International, and so on, wrote to Dr. Hong to express their concern about the future fate of the world.

Representative of Japan House Taro Kimura said in his letter: “Dr. Hong toils day and night, and spares no effort to build a world of peace and happiness. He also made the 2010 World Summit on Human Rights for World Citizens successfully held this year and it ended with the enthusiastic responses from countries all over the world. I want to pay my highest respect to him.” From the directions of the Cabinet's policy in Japan and the conflicts with South Korea in the history, Representative Kimura sincerely reflected on the influences that the conduct of a ruler will make on the fate of a country and on the international relation. He also mentioned many times in the letter that people's trust to the government and the condition of people's grievance decided whether the Cabinet must change or not. His viewpoint coincides exactly with Dr. Hong's essay “The Responsibility of World Citizens for Human Rights Development for World Citizens” published in the 2010 World Summit on Human Rights for World Citizens: “Listening to the voices of the people is the driver of national development and progress”, “Natural rights are based on the people and the rule of law; all the systems and rules of law are instituted to protect human rights”

Representative Kimura also said: “World peace and stability, protection of human rights and the idea of freedom and democracy are rooted in history and tradition”, he is going to “create a new Japan of unique style” with this foundation. To fulfill the responsibilities as a member of the international community, “The 10th Conference of the Parties (COP 10) to the Biodiversity Convention” will be hold in Nagoya City in Japan to support the global goal, which was set in 2002 to "significantly reduce the rate of loss of biodiversity" until 2010, and to wholeheartedly safeguard the continued survival of life on Earth.

Dr. Hong called in his essay: “Mankind is going to march forward into a new world with courage. There are still opportunities to make a turnaround in 2010. All we need to do is to stand up, exercise respect and conscience, and stop the abuse of natural rights. We hope that the natural environment will no longer be in jeopardy because of human actions; cognizant that a life saved is a progress made. When we all share the similar thinking and act the same together, the merciful God will leave with us a chance of opportunity.” The invitation to write articles following the “2010 WSHR” will continue until the end of August, so far 71,000 articles have been added to the festivity to unite minds of peace to the world.
