Equal Respect

 Kyi K Nyunt
Respect is part of the Human right. In relational man kind, respect cannot be avoided. If no respect, there may not be good relationship. However, most old people are seeking to get respect form younger people.

I am 72 years old Burmese immigrant grand mom. I have 4 kids and 7 grand children. In Burmese tradition, young people have to respect older people. They should listen older people no matter right or wrong. Even they don't listen, they cannot be opposite feed back to them. I thought those are just the nature and common sense to me. If my kids gave me opposite feed back to me, I didn't like them and silent response to them. I got cold war in my family; Families are silent finging. But, I change now!

In monastic rule, younger monk cannot be point out any thing wrong about older monk. That is un-respectful behavior. However, in one of buddha monastic story, the well educated older monk was grateful to his student younger monk pointed out to him about messing wearing of his uniform. I thanks to my kids when they point on me something wrong, and I correct it.

As mention in declaration of Human Rights for World Citizens, fundamental human right should be built on sincere mutual respect and equal sharing between people, and between countries. My all families and friends are equal human being. I respect all of my families and friends. I communicate to every one in my families very smoothly. I have no more cold war (silent fighting)in my families.

I wish all families have same with me "No Arguments, No Fighting, No War!". Hope every one respect each other, and we start on our family to promoting the betterment of our humanity and the happy Planet Earth.
